Wisemans Ferry is one of The Hills Shire's best kept secrets. Set amid spectacular sandstone cliffs beside the Hawkesbury River, the village of Wisemans Ferry lies at the centre of a remarkable range of attractions including boating, water skiing, and picnic areas. The river can be crossed on Australia's oldest ferry service, begun by Solomon Wiseman in 1827. It was part of the main route from Sydney to the Hunter Valley before the construction of the Pacific Highway. The Webbs Creek cable ferry, located upstream south west of the first ferry, was established later and operates at peak times to serve the people living at Webbs Creek and along the western side of the McDonald River.
