What is in Camden's Local Studies Collection?

The collection is located in the Local Studies room at Camden Library and is accessible as a reference collection during library opening hours. Copies of some items are available for loan from the non-fiction collection at Camden and Narellan Libraries.

Local Studies Materials
The collection contains: original or published manuscripts and books, periodicals, audio-visual materials, newspapers, newspaper clippings, articles, pamphlets, government publications, Council publications, local student assignments and theses, family (genealogical) histories, records, maps, photographs and other items of current or historical significance to the local area. The image database HistoryPix is available online.

Local Studies Scope The collection covers all aspects of Camden local area interest and significance, including current and historical materials on people, places, events, social issues, environmental and conservation issues, built and natural environments, local buildings, businesses and organisations, churches, schools.

Local Studies Clientele
The collection is utilized by the local and wider community, students, researchers, visitors and Council staff and corporate groups. Private research assistance is free, corporate research attracts a fee.
